Greenwich Market, and more Dome laughs

Just had this shoved under my nose - the consultation on the future of Greenwich Market, which I didn't know was happening. Ssssh, don't tell anyone, they might object to building a hotel in the market square! Worth keeping a very close eye on.

And some more generous results from the council snuggling up in bed with the owners of the Dome, with an residents' offer for the forthcoming Tutankhamun exhibition surely designed to exclude almost everybody in full-time employment...

The first 500 cardholders to email tutrsvp@aegworldwide.co.uk will receive half price tickets when they bring their card to The O2 box office on Wednesday 12 September at 1pm. You must arrive no later than 1.30pm in order to purchase your half price tickets.

See, this forging a close relationship with AEG is having great benefits for all of us, eh?

I'm no luddite, but why do they have to touch the market? The stalls are just for the tourists but the buildings surrounding it are perfect as they are - one of South East London's greatest treasures. Plus, in the last few years, they've taken on new life - the market works.

The stated aims of the developers are to make their properties attractive to visitors and shoppers, while respecting the heritage of the site. On that basis, leave it alone.

Indeed. Sounds like they're trying to milk it for cash...
